Editorial Structure

The Asian Journal of Qualitative Research (AJQR) operates through a structured editorial system consisting of an Editorial Team, an Editorial Board, and an Editorial Advisory Board. Each body has defined academic and editorial responsibilities to support the quality, integrity, and scholarly development of the journal.

1. Editorial Team

The Editorial Team is responsible for the day-to-day academic and editorial management of the journal.

Chief Editor

The Chief Editor provides overall academic leadership and direction to the journal. The Chief Editor oversees the editorial process, maintains scholarly standards, and ensures that editorial decisions are made fairly, independently, and in accordance with the journal's policies.

Editor

The Editor supports the Chief Editor in the academic and editorial management of the journal. The Editor may assist in manuscript assessment, editorial decisions, coordination of peer review, and implementation of editorial policies.

Managing Editor

The Managing Editor is responsible for the administrative and operational coordination of the journal's publication process. This includes coordinating submissions, editorial communication, publication schedules, and other routine editorial and administrative matters.

Associate Editor

The Associate Editor supports the editorial process in assigned subject areas and may assist with preliminary manuscript assessment, reviewer coordination, editorial evaluation, and communication related to manuscripts.

2. Editorial Board

The Editorial Board consists of scholars and researchers with relevant expertise in the Social Sciences and related disciplines.

Editorial Board members contribute to the academic development of AJQR and may:

  • Advise on the journal's academic scope and direction;

  • Support the maintenance of scholarly standards;

  • Advise on manuscript suitability and subject coverage;

  • Recommend suitably qualified independent reviewers;

  • Contribute to the development of editorial policies;

  • Support responsible research and publication practices; and

  • Provide academic advice concerning the journal's development.

The names, institutional affiliations, and relevant academic information of the Editorial Board members are publicly available on the journal's Editorial Board page.

3. Editorial Advisory Board

The Editorial Advisory Board provides broader academic and scholarly guidance to the journal.

Members of the Editorial Advisory Board may advise the journal on:

  • Emerging developments in the Social Sciences;

  • Interdisciplinary and international research trends;

  • The development of the journal's academic scope;

  • Scholarly standards and research quality;

  • Academic networking and international visibility; and

  • Long-term academic development of the journal.

The Editorial Advisory Board provides advisory and scholarly guidance and does not replace the independent editorial decision-making responsibilities of the Editorial Team.

Editorial Independence

Editorial decisions are based on the scholarly quality, originality, relevance, methodological soundness, and ethical standards of submitted manuscripts.

Editorial decisions are not determined by commercial interests, advertising, sponsorship, institutional affiliation, personal relationships, or the ability or willingness of authors to pay publication charges.

The Editorial Team is responsible for maintaining independent academic judgment throughout the editorial and peer-review process.

Conflicts of Interest

Editors, Editorial Board members, and Editorial Advisory Board members are expected to disclose any actual, potential, or perceived conflict of interest relating to a manuscript or editorial matter.

An individual with a relevant conflict of interest will not participate in the affected editorial decision.

Confidentiality

Members of the Editorial Team and Boards must maintain the confidentiality of submitted manuscripts and information obtained during the editorial and peer-review process.

Manuscript information will only be shared with individuals who are authorized to participate in the relevant editorial process, except where disclosure is required by applicable policy or law.

Editorial and Peer-Review Responsibilities

Membership of the Editorial Team or an Editorial Board does not automatically qualify an individual to review every manuscript submitted to the journal.

Reviewers are selected according to the subject, methodology, and expertise required for each manuscript. Peer review is conducted in accordance with the journal's stated Peer Review Policy.

Ethical Responsibilities

The Editorial Team, Editorial Board, and Editorial Advisory Board are expected to follow the journal's publication ethics policies and to support the appropriate handling of plagiarism, research misconduct, authorship disputes, conflicts of interest, corrections, and retractions.

The journal seeks to maintain transparency, fairness, confidentiality, and academic integrity throughout the publication process.
